Steam Cleaning FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to maintaining the carpets in your home or business, Get Steamed Carpet Cleaning is the team to call. Whether they’re covered with stains, pet hair, or just everyday dirt and dust, we have all the proper knowledge and tools to clean them thoroughly. If you’re interested in learning more, browse the following section to see some of our most frequently asked questions.

How will the steam clean my carpets?

When we steam clean carpets, we use a specialized cleaner, along with hot water and cleaning detergent. The high-pressure steam in combination with the hot water and the detergent all work together to blast up dirt and suck it up into the machine.

How long does it take to steam clean a carpet?

That generally depends on the size of the room. An average size room may take roughly 20-30 minutes to complete because we have to slowly move the machine carefully over the floors to ensure that all spots have been treated.

Can you remove all types of stains?

We can do our best to treat any stains on your carpet, but we cannot fully guarantee that one treatment will be enough to clean the area. This depends on the type of stain and how long it has been there, as certain substances affect carpet fibers differently. We will apply a designated treatment to help with particularly troublesome stains.

What are the benefits of steam cleaning my carpets?

In addition to having fresh, clean carpets there are some other benefits to this method of cleaning including:

  • Disinfect your carpets, as the heat of the steam can kill fleas, bedbugs, germs & mold
  • No water left behind after cleaning, which  prevents mold from growing
  • Removes stains without utilizing bleach, which may discolor your carpet
  • Extends your carpet's lifespan by helping to keep your carpets in good condition
  • Safe for pets and children, as no harsh chemicals are used

How long will it take my carpet to dry?

There are several factors that play into that. Humidity is a big one. In general, you should keep the room clear to dry for at least 24 hours.

How often should I schedule a carpet cleaning service?

Carpets are very similar to clothes in that as they are used, they will get dirty and require a carpet cleaning service. The answer differs depending on home habits, how often people walk on the carpet, and so forth, but it is a good idea to have your carpets professionally cleaned annually. If someone in your home has trouble with allergies, it may be a good idea to have your carpets cleaned twice a year.

Is there any situation when a steam cleaning won't restore my carpets?

While steam cleaning is highly effective at removing stains, there may be some scenarios where stains persist after cleaning. Some reasons this may occur are if your carpet is very old and thinning, or if the stain has been left so long it has bonded to the fibers of the carpet.

Why should I hire a carpet cleaning professional?

There is a big difference in results between having professionals clean your carpets and opting to do it on your own. Equipment, chemicals, experience, and proper cleaning procedures play a crucial role in carpet cleaning. There is nothing on the consumer level that can give you the type of cleaning power that a professional can offer. There is also the experience factor that only someone in the industry can provide you with. Including the knowledge of different types and materials of carpets, and how to clean each different one.
